In line with previous years, the international activities of the DGPI-UIBM continued in 2024 through participation in institutional meetings on IP and collaboration with the leading European and global bodies operating in this sector.
The DGPI-UIBM has therefore renewed its commitment to the promotion of IP at the European and international levels, strengthening institutional relations with the main European and global bodies in this area and contributing to the development of policies and strategies aimed at responding to the global challenges facing the sector.
Particular attention has been paid to the needs of SMEs, with the aim of providing concrete support, both in terms of policies and financial incentives.
Another central aspect of the DGPI-UIBM's action at the international level has been its role of political representation in extra-national bodies. This takes the form of voting in the meetings of management boards, general assemblies, thematic committees and working groups of bodies such as the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO), the European Patent Office (EPO), the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV).
