2025 marks the year in which, over the five-year period under review, the number of patent applications for invention and utility models filed by research bodies and universities reached its highest value, with almost 600 applications submitted, an increase of over 20% compared to the previous year. This figure reflects the effectiveness of the UIBM's support activities for Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs).

The number of granting orders issued by the DGPI-UIBM stood at 358, in line with the figures recorded in previous years.

Based on the International Patent Classification (IPC), the distribution of patents granted in 2025 shows a strong concentration in several key categories: "Human Necessities" accounts for the largest share at 27.9%, followed by "Physics" (25.1%) and "Chemistry and Metallurgy" (20.7%). Together, these three sectors cover more than 70% of the total, indicating a predominant weight relative to all others. "Performing Operations, Transporting" at 14.5% represents an intermediate-level sector, while all remaining categories account for more limited shares.
