Trend and filing procedure – 2020-2024

During 2024, 13 applications for new plant varieties rights were submitted, showing an increase compared to the previous year. Of these, 10 were received via the online platform, while the remaining 3 were filed via the Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Handcrafts and Agriculture (CCIAA). No final orders were issued during the year regarding the granting of plant varieties rights.

59% of the applicants for new plant varieties came from north-eastern Italy, mainly from Veneto. 3 of the applicants were resident in Sicily and the islands. The remaining percentage of applicants were resident abroad.
