After peaking in 2022, there was a decrease in the number of oppositions to the registration of trademark filed in 2024, confirming the previous year's trend. The online procedure continues to be the one used by almost all applicants (over 99%).

Of the 1,450 opposition proceedings relating to the registration of trademarks examined and completed by the DGPI-UIBM during 2025, over 57% concluded with an extinction order, while just over 40% were subject to a substantive examination and a consequent decision on the merits. Of the 586 proceedings concluded with a decision on the merits, almost 69% resulted in the total acceptance of the opposition submitted, while the remaining 31% was evenly divided between partial acceptance and rejection of the opposition submitted.
