Supporting businesses, in particular micro, small and medium enterprises, in the process of valorising their Industrial Property rights represents a strategic policy intervention in favour of the competitiveness and innovation of the national production system.
In this context, also for the 2025 annual cycle, the DGPI-UIBM has ensured the continuity of incentive measures through the programming of resources dedicated to the established Patents+ [Brevetti+], Designs+ [Disegni+] and Trademarks+ [Marchi+] programmes, as well as to the incentive for the promotion abroad of collective trademarks and certifications.
Under DPCM No. 174 of 30 October 2023, "Regulation on the Organisation of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy", with effect from 2024, responsibility for the management of incentive measures for the promotion and valorisation of Industrial Property rights has been transferred to the Directorate General for Business Incentives (DGIAI) of the MIMIT Enterprises Department.
The DGPI-UIBM, maintaining its objective of fostering economic growth, technological progress and the capacity of businesses to meet the challenges of global markets, issues its own decrees to ensure the funding of Patents+ [Brevetti+], Designs+ [Disegni+] and Trademarks+ [Marchi+] measures, in support of SMEs in the valorisation of their Industrial Property rights.
By decree of the Director General of the DGPI-UIBM dated 6 August 2025 (published in the Official Gazette of the Italian Republic of 29 August 2025, No. 200), the financial resources programming for the year 2025 was established for the Patents+ [Brevetti+], Designs+ [Disegni+] and Trademarks+ [Marchi+] measures, amounting to a total of 32 million euros. The overall financial allocation has been divided into 20 million euros for Patents+ [Brevetti+]; 10 million euros for Designs+ [Disegni+]; and 2 million euros for Trademarks+ [Marchi+].
During 2025, the DGIAI published the calls for applications and, between November and December 2025, the application windows for the submission of grant applications were opened (20 November 2025 for Patents+ [Brevetti+]; 4 December 2025 for Trademarks+ [Marchi+]; 18 December 2025 for Designs+ [Disegni+]), all of which closed within a short time due to the exhaustion of available funds based on applications submitted by SMEs.
