In 2022, the active policies promoted by the DGTPI-UIBM to enhance Industrial Property rights and to support technology transfer processes and prototyping of innovative solutions, were consolidated and strengthened in the belief of the important and strategic nature of intangible assets for the development and competitiveness of companies in the markets.

“Marchi+”, “Brevetti+” and “Design+” are the incentives which, having become structural, are now a point of reference for companies to encourage and favor programs for the promotion of IP rights.

On the other hand, “Collective trademarks and certifications abroad”, “Strengthening of Technological Transfer Offices (Uffici di trasferimento tecnologico, UTT) of Universities, Public Research Bodies (Enti pubblici di ricerca, EPR) and Scientific Institutes for Research, Hospitalization and Healthcare (Istituti di ricovero e cura a carattere scientifico, IRCCS)” and “Proof of Concept (POC)” are the financing programs promoted by the DGTPI-UIBM to encourage the dissemination and transfer of scientific know-how from the research system to the productive world.

The complete range of investment measures allowed the DGTPI-UIBM to allocate €64.5 million for 2022, of which €26 million for the new Brevetti+ [Patents+], UTT and POC calls under the #NextGenerationItalia National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), which allocated an extraordinary funding of €30 million to IP under Mission 1, Component 2 “Digitalization, innovation and competitiveness in the production system”.

The large and relevant participation of the business and university world in all the investment measures  ̶  which led to the closing of the application desks in record time and to the request for much larger amounts than those allocated  ̶ is a strong sign of the interest of national enterprises, especially small ones, in these measures and programs and of the need for support that both companies  and research world still have.
