Supporting businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, in the process of recognising their IP rights is one of the main objectives of the Directorate General, which in 2024 continued to assure access to a wide range of incentives.

In order to promote and facilitate the consolidation of a dynamic and competitive entrepreneurial ecosystem capable of tackling the new challenges of the global market with creativity and determination while also focusing on technological progress, these incentive opportunities are designed to nurture a virtuous circle of economic growth and innovation.

In this direction, the DGPI-UIBM has re-introduced the historic measures "Brevetti+" [Patents+], "Disegni+" [Designs+] and "Marchi+" [Trademarks+] for 2024 by publishing the calls for applications. The total funding available from these three measures amounts to 32 million euros, of which 20 million is allocated to 32 the millions of euros made available by the three interventions in total, divided into 20 million euro for "Brevetti+" [Patents+], 10 million to "Disegni+" [Designs+] and 2 million to "Marchi+" [Trademarks+].

The “Promotion abroad of collective trademarks and certifications” has seen the allocation of approximately 2.5 million euros for 2024. In the same way, DGPI-UIBM has continued on setting up projects for exchange and collaboration between the research system and enterprises, with the UTT Call.

The third edition of the Intellectual Property Award (IPA) competition and the launch of a new call for applications dedicated to non-agricultural Geographical Indications (GIs) protection, marks a significant step forward in the protection and recognition of the outstanding craft and industrial products made in specific areas of Italy, and completes DGPI commitment to the recognition of IP rights in 2024.
