Promotion abroad of collective trademarks and certifications 2024

Issued in December 2024, the call for applications for the funding of the promotion abroad of collective trademarks and certifications received 49 applications, of which 22 were admitted to funding.

The geographical distribution of admitted applications is uneven, with a marked concentration in the northern areas of the country and a more limited incidence of the South and Islands. The highest share of admitted applications is concentrated in the North-West, which accounts for 36.4% of the total. This is followed by the North-East at 31.8%, also a highly significant figure. Taken together, the northern regions account for more than two thirds of the total. Central Italy contributes 18.2%, an intermediate share. The South and Islands account for a more limited percentage.

With regard to the sectors to which the admitted applications relate, a strong concentration is observed in the agri-food sector, which records 17 applications, of which 8 belong to the wine segment, proving markedly dominant over all other sectoral areas represented.

An analysis of the types of applicants whose applications were admitted to funding reveals a prevalence of protection consortia referred to in Article 53 of Law No. 128 of 24 April 1998, accounting for 14 admitted applications and representing by far the largest category. This is followed, at a considerable distance, by other organisations of an associative or cooperative nature, with 6 applications, while associations representing production categories appear marginal, with only 2 applications.
