During 2025, the Directorate General published the new UTT Call 2025–2027, launching the preliminary assessment and start-up phases for the projects admitted to funding.
Of the 101 project proposals received, 90 projects were admitted to funding, for which the Directorate General carried out verification activities relating to the correct start-up and monitoring of project initiatives, ensuring compliance with the provisions of the call for applications.
The 90 admitted projects were submitted by 68 entities, comprising 48 Universities, 5 Public Research Bodies (PRB) and 15 Scientific Institutes for Research, Hospitalisation and Healthcare (IRCCS). The overall amount of funding granted totals 7.65 million euros.
The funded initiatives involve a total of 140 professional figures, including 110 Knowledge Transfer Managers (KTM) and 30 Innovation Promoters (IP), confirming the strategic orientation of the UTT Call towards strengthening specialist expertise in the areas of technology transfer, valorisation of research results and collaboration between the research system and enterprises.
In continuity with previous annual cycles, during 2025 the Directorate General continued the activities of monitoring, verification and reporting relating to the UTT Call 2023–2025, funded under the NRRP.
With reference to the 91 participating projects, under the responsibility of 66 institutional entities, comprising 46 Universities, 15 Scientific Institutes for Research, Hospitalisation and Healthcare (IRCCS) and 5 Public Research Bodies (PRB), the Directorate General ensured the monitoring of the progress of project initiatives aimed at strengthening technology transfer processes and collaboration between the research system and the business community, as well as the training and consolidation of highly specialised professional figures, such as Knowledge Transfer Managers and Innovation Promoters.
In parallel, the dedicated IT platform "DatiUTT", which underwent a significant functional upgrade during 2024, continued to effectively support the management of activities throughout 2025, contributing to streamlining and enhancing the efficiency of the reporting, monitoring and grant disbursement phases.
